Learn how to create and display an interactive 3D scene, using a structured, textual representation, rather than writing code.

This way, 3D content becomes a first class citizen inside the Web page, just as text, links, images or movies.

X3DOM (pronounced “X-Freedom”) is an open source JavaScript framework, used to create declarative 3D scenes in Web pages.

Joining us from the Fraunhofer IGD (Institut für Graphische Datenverarbeitung) in Darmstadt, Germany, Max Limper will present a quick overview of the capabilities of X3DOM and its many applications, including industrial engineering and CAD reviews, data visualization, geospatial, cultural heritage, and medical visualization.

    About the speaker

Max Limper (@mlimper_cg) is a Researcher at Fraunhofer IGD. As part of the Visual Computing System Technologies (VCST) group, he is developing rendering technology for academia and industry, such as InstantReality and X3DOM.

His main focus are methods for polygonal mesh processing, aiming at optimized delivery and presentation of 3D meshes on the Web. Max is also a PhD student in the Interactive Graphics Systems group (GRIS) at TU Darmstadt.
